Pitigliano

The characteristic historical center is known as the little Jerusalem, due to the historical presence of a Jewish community, which has always been well integrated into the social context which had its own synagogue here.
The settlement of the Jewish community in Pitigliano took place after the middle of the 16th century, under the protection of the Orsini counts; it is assumed that the current synagogue was built on a pre-existing oratory. The current building dates back to 1598.
The sacred building stands in the area formerly inhabited by the Jewish community of Pitigliano, which is characterized by narrow alleys and very suggestive arches
The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul is the Cathedral of Pitigliano.
The Medici Aqueduct is a hydraulic engineering structure designed for the water supply of the village of Pitigliano, the works started around 1500.
