Gastronomy
The
typical products one can find in our territory are still made using the
method of our older generations: dishes such as “buglione”,
“piciarelli”, “acquacotta alla maremmana”,
“maccheroni con le noci”, “scottiglia”,
“sfratti”, “melarelli” and
“struffoli” but also cheese, ricotta various kinds of
Italian cold cuts and cured meats such as salami and sausages (produced
by renowned local cheese and cold cut meat factories). The wine also
plays a very important role in the local gastronomic folklore: wine
tradition started with the Etruscans who cultivated vines which
“got married” with trees and kept their unfermented grape
juice in the tufaceous quarries, perfect habitats for the achievement
and conservation of wine. Nowadays three typical wines have gained the
target D.O.C. (controlled origin): Morellino di Scansano, Bianco di
Scansano and Rosso di Sovana. |
